These rodents are rather sensitive and are exposed to stress when introduce to a new environment or new companions. They shed hair when they are frightened. In the wild these animals have always been native to the same territory and never migrate to any other area.

These are rather social animals. In the wild they live in small family groups. These groups are part of larger of 100 or more animals. If you want to obtain this animal as a pet, it is better to take a pair or a whole family of these animals.
