In the wild the animals feed on roots, tubers, bulbs, and mosses. They have now almost completely disappeared from the wild because of the merciless hunting for their highly prized beautiful fur.

Chinchilla Breeder -

Their coat is soft and dense and silver-gray. The length of head and body is 10 inches and the tail is an additional 7 inches. Their weight is about a little over one pound. Females are larger than males and can be rather aggressive to each other. A chinchilla breeder may have other rodents too; some breeders like to branch out.
