Fully-grown chinchilla pictures aren't as cute as a baby picture.
These sweet animals have long ears, large eyes and bushy tails. Their tails look like squirrels’ tails. They weigh 18-35 ounces. They are 8-15 inches long. The average live span of these animals is 8-10 years in the wild, in captivity they can live much longer. Females of these rodents usually give birth to two babies once a year.

The majority of pet animals are a descendant of the “Chapman Chinchillas.” In the wild these animals feed on roots, bulbs, and mosses whereas in captivity they eat cubed hay, rolled oats, raisins, nuts, and cookies.
